Applying to Join us as a New Gardener
Application Instructions for New Gardeners at South Zone Community Garden – 2019
Here is how it works:
Your garden will require about 8-12 hours of your time each week throughout the summer (mostly in weed and grass control) - please consider the amount of time you have available prior to applying. A good option is to share with a friend for the first season as this will lighten the work load!
We start our waitlist for new gardeners on January 1st. We will know by mid-March how many plots we have available for 2019 and will allocate those plots to those on the waitlist, starting from the top. The waitlist is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be put on the waitlist when we receive a complete application from you, so the earlier you apply, the more likely you are to get a garden plot. If you do not get a plot your cheque will be destroyed.
A complete application consists of:
1. Contact Details
Complete home address with postal code
Phone number/s – provide the one that is easiest to contact you with
Email address (this will be our primary way to contact you so please make sure it is an address you check with reasonable frequency)
Size of plot you would like: small (20'x25' - $45/year) or large (20'x45' -$65/year)
2. Signed back sheet of the 2019 Garden Use Agreement (please don't send the whole GUA)
if you do not have a printer, please let us know via email
3. A post-dated cheque (Feb 28th, 2019) made out to South Zone Community Gardens, clearing indicating your name used in any previous correspondence with us. If it is difficult to send a cheque, please contact us by email.
Please send this information via email (email@example.com) or mail. Cheques will need to be send by mail to:
South Zone Community Gardens
Cathedral Post Office
We will also be having an in-person sign up sometime in January or February - dates/location to be posted here when determined.
