Equipment Director Job Description
(main duties: April 15 to October 15)

The Equipment Director is responsible for all aspects of machinery maintenance from April 15 to October 15. He/She may be assisted by other board members or by other garden volunteers, but he/she is still responsible for coordinating these activities and seeing they are carried out in a timely fashion.  


The duties of the equipment director are as follows:
  1. Attend all SZCG monthly board meetings.  If unable to attend – provide a written report to be presented at the meeting.  After the meeting - review the meeting minutes so you are aware of what was discussed and the results of such discussions.

  2. Maintain inventory of large pieces of equipment used to maintain the garden grounds.

  3. Maintains the following equipment: Machines, Large and small hand tools

  4. Perform maintenance on all equipment

  • Change oil, air cleaners, sharpen blades, and maintain air in tires.

  • Inspect all equipment for missing bolts, oil parts etc. on a monthly basis.

5.           Fall equipment maintenance.

  • Remove batteries from equipment and store at home on wood or cardboard – not on concrete floor.

  • Add gas additive to all machines gas tanks and gas cans.

  • Change oil in all machines.

  • Do overall inspection of all equipment – belts, tires, bolts, etc.
