


1. Garden Plots (Open tab “SZCG Plot Plan” to see layout of gardens):
• 20’ x 25’ - $35.00 annual rental (non-refundable);
• 20’ x 45’ - $50.00 annual rental (non-refundable);
• Tilled in fall by Wascana Centre Authority, weather permitting (except Gardens with Perennials O, P, Q 17-23); and,
• Other tilling & soil enrichment – gardener’s option.
2. Registration Deadline is March 31: Mail cheque payable to:

3. Regina Community Association Membership fees are payable to gardener’s Community Association.
4. Existing Gardeners in Good Standing:
• May retain their plot from year to year if payment is received by March 31;
• May request a move and get relocated ahead of new gardeners if payment received by March 31; and,
• May designate who will take over their plot.
5. New Gardeners:
• Must submit a cheque with their request for a garden plot; and,
• Will be allocated a plot on first come first serve basis after existing gardeners have been allocated their plots.
6. Garbage and Weeds:
• No garbage, weed/dirt clumps, garden tools, or boards are to be left in the walkways; and,
• Weeds are to be placed in the refuse bins, not beside bins or in the walk-ways.
7. Weed Control:
• All gardeners must keep their gardens free of weeds;
• Roundup or any other wide spectrum broad leaf weed killers are prohibited;
• Weeds are best controlled if pulled out when they are small;
• Gardens infested with weeds or grass:
* Will receive a first warning to remove weeds or grass to garbage bin within 10 days;
* Failure to comply with first warning will result in “weed warning” sign and a second warning to remove weeds or grass to garbage bin within 5 days; and,
* Failure to comply with both warnings will result in garden being mowed and tilled to prevent the spread of weeds. Gardener will lose future gardening privileges.
• If grass is encroaching on your garden, leave a 2’ wide strip around your plot unplanted so the grass can be tilled throughout the growing season. Gardeners are to hire their own tiller or coordinate with the Garden Executive; and,
• If away for holidays or other reason, arrange to have someone care for your plot.
8. Water:
• Weather permitting, will be available from May 15 to October 1;
• Rules;
* Do not leave hoses unattended when watering;
* Do not let water overlap your neighbour’s garden; and,
* After use, coil the hose at the water tap without tangling it on itself or with other hoses.
9. Compost:
Several compost piles will be designated in mid August. Gardeners are to place only non-diseased and non-weed infested organic material from their garden on the composting piles.
10. Year End – Thanksgiving Monday:
• Take organic waste to the designated compost areas, including corn stalks;
• Remove all weeds and/or grass to the red garbage bin;
• Remove all materials brought into the garden during the course of the year such as tomato cages, ,
cans, boards, wooden stacks, steel stacks, string, garden tools, hoses, plastics, bricks, concrete blocks, plastic fences and pails; and,
• Failure to clean garden by Thanksgiving Monday:,
* Gardener will be charged a clean up fee equal to the annual garden fee. It must be paid in the ,
ensuing year. If not paid, gardener loses gardening privileges.
11. Gophers: Wascana Centre Authority prohibits the trapping of gophers.
12. Late Fall Blight:
The SZCG has been affected by this disease over the past several years. Check our web site for links to information on this disease. If you suspect your tomatoes or potatoes have this disease, dispose of all vegetation in plastic bags and place them in the red garbage bin beside the garden sheds. Do not place diseased vegetation in the compost piles.

Disclosure: Gardeners shall use and occupy the garden plot at their own risk and shall hold harmless the South Zone Community Gardens, Wascana Centre Authority or South Zone Recreation Board responsible for loss or damage of crops, equipment, or personal property due to weather, weeds, rodents, or robbery of vegetation or for personal injury. The registered renter of the plot is responsible for the whole plot.
